1 Samuel 7:8
They said to Samuel, “Do not stop crying out to the Lord our
God for us, that he may rescue us from the hand of the Philistines.”
I know all of us has family members or people in our lives
that aren’t saved. It breaks our hearts to see them living by worldly things.
As I was studying today this verse stood out to me. The Israelites heard of the
Philistines that were getting ready to attack and they were afraid and that’s
when they went to Samuel and said, “Do not stop crying out to the Lord our God
for us, that he may rescue us.”
How many times have you cried out to God on behalf of the
people you love? Or how many times have people come to you and ask for prayer
because they know God listens to your prayers?
My heart hurts for the people in my life that doesn’t know
the Lord and I know yours does too, but I want to share this with you; when you
sincerely pray about something God will answer, but it is in His timing and in
ways we do not expect.
God hears the prayers of the righteous. (1 Peter 3:12)
I not only want to pray for the people in my life, but I
want to teach them the way they should go. I want my life to be an example to
others.
1 Samuel 12: 23-24
As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the
Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and
right. But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your
heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
As God’s people we have responsibilities and here Samuel
gave us two, praying consistently for others and teaching others the right way
to God.
I included verse 24 because we should always reflect over
our lives and see what God has done for us and what He has brought us through.
When we do this, we focus our attention on God’s goodness and faithfulness to
us and it strengthens our faith.
People are searching and crying out for help even if they
don’t realize it or want to admit it to anyone. They’re longing to be rescued,
but aren’t sure where to go. Be that light to others and pray. God is moving and working. Don’t give up
praying for the lost.
Dear Lord, Thank You for this word You have given me today.
I know someone needed to see this today and I pray it’s encouraged them to not
give up the fight and praying for the lost in their life. Lord, the battle
belongs to You and all we need to do is be still and trust You. You’re moving
and I see it. Thank You for all the blessings in my life and Lord I want to
thank You for the struggles that You’ve helped me through. I see Your goodness
all over my life Lord and I want others to see You in me. Be with us as we go
throughout our days Lord and help keep our focus on You. Watch over us Lord.
Lead us, Guide us, and Direct us. In Your loving name I pray, amen.
